FWD: Isaiah 65:24 - 'Before they call, I will answer'
Isaiah 65:24 - 'Before they call, I will answer'
This story was written by a doctor who worked in South Africa .
One night I had worked hard to help a mother in the labor ward; but in
spite of all we could do, she died leaving us with a tiny premature
baby and a crying two-year-old daughter. We would have difficulty
keeping the baby alive, as we had no incubator (we had no electricity
to run an incubator).
We also had no special feeding facilities. Although we lived on the
equator, nights were often chilly with treacherous drafts. One student
midwife went for the box we had for such babies and the cotton wool
that the baby would be wrapped in.
Another went to stoke up the fire and fill a hot water bottle. She
came back shortly in distress to tell me that in filling the bottle,
it had burst (rubber perishes easily in tropical climates). 'And it is
our last hot water bottle!' she exclaimed. As in the West, it is no
good crying over spilled milk so in Central Africa it might be
considered no
good crying over burst water bottles. They do not grow on trees, and
there are no drugstores down forest pathways.
'All right,' I said, 'put the baby as near the fire as you safely can,
and sleep between the baby and the door to keep it free from drafts.
Your job is to keep the baby warm.'
The following noon, as I did most days, I went to have prayers with
any of the orphanage children who chose to gather with me. I gave the
youngsters various suggestions of things to pray about and told them
about the tiny baby. I explained our problem about keeping the baby
warm enough, mentioning the hot water bottle, and that the baby could
so easily die if it got chills. I also told them of the two-year-old
sister, crying because her mother had died.
During prayer time, one ten-year old girl, Ruth, prayed with the usual
blunt conciseness of our African children. 'Please, God' she prayed,
'send us a water bottle. It'll be no good tomorrow, God, as the baby
will be dead, so please send it this afternoon.' While I gasped
inwardly at the audacity of the prayer, she added, 'And while You are
about it, would You please send a dolly for the little girl so she'll
know You really love her?'
As often with children's prayers, I was put on the spot. Could I
honestly say, 'Amen'? I just did not believe that God could do this.
Oh, yes, I know that He can do everything, the Bible says so. But
there are limits, aren't there? The only way God could answer this
particular prayer would be by sending me a parcel from homeland. I had
been in Africa for almost four years at that time, and I had never,
ever received a parcel from home.
Anyway, if anyone did send me a parcel, who would put in a hot water
bottle? I lived on the equator! Halfway through the afternoon, while I
was teaching in the nurses' training school, a message was sent that
there was a car at my front door.
By the time I reached home, the car had gone, but there, on the
veranda, was a large twenty-two pound parcel. I felt tears pricking my
eyes. I could not open the parcel alone, so I sent for the orphanage
children. Together we pulled off the string, carefully undoing each
knot. We folded the paper, taking care not to tear it unduly.
Excitement was mounting. Some thirty or forty pairs of eyes were
focused on the large cardboard box. From the top, I lifted out
brightly colored, knitted jerseys. Eyes sparkled as I gave them out.
Then there were the knitted bandages for the leprosy patients, and the
children looked a little bored. Then came a box of mixed raisins and
sultanas - that would make a batch of buns for the weekend. Then, as I
put my hand in again, I felt the.....could it really be? I grasped it
and pulled it out - yes, a brand-new, rubber hot water bottle. I
cried. I had not asked God to send it; I had not truly believed that
He could.. Ruth was in the front row of the children. She
rushed forward, crying out, 'If God has sent the bottle, He must have
sent the dolly too!' Rummaging down to the bottom of the box, she
pulled out the small, beautifully dressed dolly. Her eyes shone! She
had never doubted! Looking up at me, she asked: 'Can I go over with
you and give this dolly to that little girl, so she'll know that Jesus
really loves her?'
That parcel had been on the way for five whole months. Packed up by my
former Sunday school class, whose leader had heard and obeyed God's
prompting to send a hot water bottle, even to the equator. And one of
the girls had put in a dolly for an African child - five month s
before, in answer to the believing prayer of a ten-year-old to bring
it 'that afternoon'.
'Before they call, I will answer' (Isaiah 65:24) This awesome prayer
takes less than a minute. When you receive this, say the prayer,
that's all you have to do. No strings attached. Just send it on to
whoever you want - but do send it on. Prayer is one of the best free
gifts we receive. There is no cost but a lot of rewards. Let's
continue praying for one another !
'Father, I ask you to bless my friends reading this right now.
I am asking You to minister to their spirit at this very moment.
Where there is pain, give them Your peace and mercy.
Where there is self doubting, release a renewed confidence to work
through them.
Where there is spiritual stagnation, I ask You to renew them by
revealing Your nearness, and by drawing them into greater intimacy
with You.
Where there is fear, reveal Your love, and release to them Your courage.
Bless their finances, give them greater vision, and raise up leaders
and friends to support
and encourage them
Give each of them discernment to recognize the evil forces around
them, and reveal to them the power they have in You to defeat it.
I ask you to do these things in Jesus' name. '

What on earth am I here for???
Way back in my earlier years, I did ask myself this question. Having lived for 20 odd years then, I thought that life was just about living a life that is pleasing to God, basically just read the Bible, go to church, involved in ministries and so on...
Is that all? What do you think?
It was last year that I was able to understand concisely Y M I here on earth for? What about you? Do you know your life's purpose?
Stay tuned for more updates.
This will be a series on YMI here on earth for?

don't assume..
Haha... very familiar rite? It happens a lot... Why wait for others to do it when we can do it? Why assume that if we are not doing it, other who have the burden will pick it up and get it done? This is even worst when it happen in ministries... we are called to be stewards..hence our duty is to look after our Master's property and use our talents to get things done.
(1Co 4:1) Let a man so account of us, as of the ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God.
(1Co 4:2) Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.
(1Pe 4:10) As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.
(Mat 5:16) Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
So, when a job/tast/duty/responsibility is given to you, take it up and do it for the Lord.
i couldn't help but recall the parable about the 10 talents. In the end, three rewards were given to the three kinds of stewards:-
(Luk 19:15) "The man was made king and came back. At once he ordered his servants to appear before him, in order to find out how much they had earned.
(Luk 19:16) The first one came and said, 'Sir, I have earned ten gold coins with the one you gave me.'
(Luk 19:17) 'Well done,' he said; 'you are a good servant! Since you were faithful in small matters, I will put you in charge of ten cities.'
(Luk 19:18) The second servant came and said, 'Sir, I have earned five gold coins with the one you gave me.'
(Luk 19:19) To this one he said, 'You will be in charge of five cities.'
(Luk 19:20) Another servant came and said, 'Sir, here is your gold coin; I kept it hidden in a handkerchief.
(Luk 19:21) I was afraid of you, because you are a hard man. You take what is not yours and reap what you did not plant.'
(Luk 19:22) He said to him, 'You bad servant! I will use your own words to condemn you! You know that I am a hard man, taking what is not mine and reaping what I have not planted.
(Luk 19:23) Well, then, why didn't you put my money in the bank? Then I would have received it back with interest when I returned.'
(Luk 19:24) Then he said to those who were standing there, 'Take the gold coin away from him and give it to the servant who has ten coins.'
(Luk 19:25) But they said to him, 'Sir, he already has ten coins!'
(Luk 19:26) 'I tell you,' he replied, 'that to those who have something, even more will be given; but those who have nothing, even the little that they have will be taken away from them.
And so, my fellow servants.. where is thy stand? Have a purposeful day today.

a new year..A NEW BEGINNING
I started off 2008 with new anticipation and excitement...looking forward to what the Lord has planned for me this year. New challenges, new relationships, everything new...
In His time, in His time
He makes all things beautiful in His time....
Just a few days before 2008....
Looking back, i have nothing to complain but to thank the wonderful Lord for these.
1. Ezra
Was enlisted in the NS, and was i ever so glad that her camp is just 30 minutes drive away from our home. The best thing about the NS is that Ezra met this challenge head-on.. Ppl were asking me is she cried, threw tantrum, refused to go.. and Praise the Lord, not only these did not happen, rather she looked forward to the whole thing. Made her own list of things to bring... hahaa..(over-packed her clothes)and her BIG Bible. I thanked the Lord that He watches over her and protected her.
Friends..do you know that when friends encouraged you, you can move mountains? When Christian friends are alongside you in your life journey, nothing is impossible? Why, because we all believe in the same Lord God Almighty!!! Praying together and for each other definitely encourages one to stay true to the Lord. I give thanks to You, Lord for sending TW into her life..(*wink). Zealous in her quest for God's Word and i can see transformation in her life. Even brought an extra Bible for her new friend in the camp.
2. Aaron
PMR result was okok lo. I have nothing to complain. He managed to get into half science stream and has a chance of going full science. Thank you Lord. A gentle and tender loving fellow... Lord do keep him that way... (hehe). His love for playing the bass guitar has increased. And i have the Wong brothers, Aaron and Abel to thank for that.!!!
3. Betsy
Everybody loves her...pampers her... well not everybody... This baby spends 2 tough years in the afternoon session and grew up tough too.. in character, speech and action(*shakes head). Looking back, she has transformed from a baby to a 'girl' and also to being able to stand up to 'bullies'...boy.. she(we) had come a long way..
Yesterday she told me this.."Mommy, 以前我每次说我不幸福。。。其实我很幸福因为你们很爱我, 给我support and encouragement. (but din give $$$ and hp ar) and helped me to develop my character and personality". I silently thanked the Lord for her that she finally realised that Character is important.
4. My DH for who he is and what he does to make the family a happy home.
5. Myself.... hahahaha... for the pple that has crossed my path in life, the new friendships (on average i make friends with at least 40 people a year). Thank you Lord.
and OF COURSE all these things are not possible if not for OUR LORD AND SAVIOUR, JESUS CHRIST. Because of His great love....
Immanuel
by Max Lucado
The King walked over and reached for the book. He turned it toward Lucifer and commanded, "Come, Deceiver, read the name of the One who will call your bluff. Read the name of the One who will storm your gates."
Satan rose slowly off his haunches. Like a wary wolf, he walked a wide circle toward the desk until he stood before the volume and read the word:
"Immanuel?" he muttered to himself, then spoke in a tone of disbelief. "God with us?" For the first time the hooded head turned squarely toward the face of the Father. "No. Not even You would do that. Not even You would go so far."
"You've never believed me, Satan."
"But Immanuel? The plan is bizarre! You don't know what it's like on Earth! You don't know how dark I've made it. It's putrid. It's evil. It's..."
"IT IS MINE," proclaimed the King. "AND I WILL RECLAIM WHAT IS MINE. I WILL BECOME FLESH. I WILL FEEL WHAT MY CREATURES FEEL. I WILL SEE WHAT THEY SEE."
"But what of their sin?"
"I will bring mercy."
"What of their death?"
"I will give life."
Satan stood speechless.
God spoke, "I love my children. Love does not take away the beloved's freedom. But love takes away fear. And Immanuel will leave behind a tribe of fearless children. They will not fear you or your hell."
Satan stepped back at the thought. His retort was childish. "Th-th-they will too!"
"I will take away all sin. I will take away death. Without sin and without death, you have no power."
Around and around in a circle Satan paced, clenching and unclenching his wiry fingers. When he finally stopped, he asked a question that even I was thinking. "Why? Why would You do this?"
The Father's voice was deep and soft. "Because I love them."Monday, January 07, 2008

Men and women... their rules....
A Woman's 50 Rules for Men
- Call.
- Don't lie.
- Never tape any of her body parts together.
- If guys' night out is going to be fun, invite the girls.
- If guys' night out is going to involve strippers, remember the zoo rules: No Petting.
- The correct answer to "Do I look fat?" is never, ever "Yes."
- Ditto for "Is she prettier than me?"
- Victoria's Secret is good. Frederick's of Hollywood is bad.
- Ordering for her is good. Telling her what she wants is bad.
- Being attentive is good. Stalking is bad.
- "Honey", "Darling", and "Sweetheart" are good. "Nag", "Lardass", and "Bitch" are bad.
- Talking is good. Shouting is bad. Slapping is a felony.
- A grunt is seldom an acceptable answer to any question.
- None of your ex-girlfriends were ever nicer, prettier, or better in bed.
- Her cooking is excellent.
- That isn't an excuse for you to avoid cooking.
- Dishsoap is your friend.
- Hat does not equal shower, aftershave does not equal soap, and warm does not equal clean.
- Buying her dinner does not equal foreplay.
- Answering "Who was that on the phone?" with "Nobody" is never going to end that conversation.
- Ditto for "Whose lipstick is this?"
- Two words: clean socks.
- Believe it or not, you're probably not more attractive when you're drunk.
- Burping is not sexy.
- You're wrong.
- You're sorry.
- She is probably less impressed by your discourse on your cool car than you think she is.
- Ditto for your discourse on football.
- Ditto for your ability to jump up and hit any awning in a single bound.
- "Will you marry me?" is good. "Let's shack up together" is bad.
- Don't assume PMS is the cause for every bad mood.
- Don't assume PMS doesn't exist.
- No means No. Yes means Yes. Silence could mean anything she feels like at that particular moment in time, and it could change without notice.
- "But, we kiss..." is not justification for using her toothbrush. You don't clean plaque with your tongue.
- Never let her walk anywhere alone after 11pm.
- Chivalry and feminism are NOT mutually exclusive.
- Pick her up at the airport. Don't whine about it, just do it.
- If you want to break up with her, break up with her. Don't act like a complete jerk until she does it for you.
- Don't tell her you love her if you don't.
- Tell her you love her if you do. Often.
- Always, always suck up to her brother.
- Think boxers.
- Silk boxers.
- Remember Valentine's Day, and any cheesy "anniversary" she so-names.
- Don't try to change the way she dresses.
- Her haircut is never bad.
- Don't let your friends pick on her.
- Call.
- Don't lie.
- The rules are never fair. Accept this without question. The fact that she has to go through labor while you sit in the waiting room on your ass smoking cigars isn't fair either, and it balances everything.
THE GUYS’ RULES
At last a guy has taken the time to write this all down. Finally, the guys' side of the story…
We always hear "the rules" from the female side.
Now here are the rules from the male side.
These are our rules!
Please note these are all numbered "1" ON PURPOSE!
1. Learn to work the toilet seat.
You're a big girl. If it's up, put it down.
We need it up, you need it down.
You don't hear us complaining about you leaving it down.
1. Sunday sports. It's like the full moon or the changing of the tides.
Let it be.
1. Shopping is NOT a sport.
And no, we are never going to think of it that way.
1. Crying is blackmail.
1. Ask for what you want.
Let us be clear on this one:
Subtle hints do not work!
Strong hints do not work!
Obvious hints do not work!
Just say it!
1. Yes and No are perfectly acceptable answers to almost every question.
1. Come to us with a problem only if you want help solving it. That's what we do.
Sympathy is what your girlfriends are for.
1. A headache that lasts for 17 months IS a problem See a doctor.
1. Anything we said 6 months ago is inadmissible in an argument.
In fact, all comments become null and void after 7 Days.
1. If you won't dress like the Victoria's Secret girls don't expect us to act like soap opera guys.
1. If you think you're fat, you probably are.
Don't ask us.
1. If something we said can be interpreted two ways and one of the ways makes you sad or angry, we meant the other one.
1. You can either ask us to do something or tell us how you want it done.
Not both. If you already know best how to do it, just do it yourself.
1. Whenever possible, please say whatever you have to say during commercials.
1. Christopher Columbus did NOT need directions and neither do we.
1. ALL men see in only 16 colors, like Windows default settings.
Peach, for example, is a fruit, not a color. Pumpkin is also a fruit. We have no idea what mauve is.
1. If it itches, it will be scratched.
We do that.
1. If we ask what is wrong and you say "nothing," We will act like nothing’s wrong.
We know you are lying, but it is just not worth the hassle.
1. If you ask a question you don't want an answer to, expect an answer you don't want to hear.
1. When we have to go somewhere, absolutely anything you wear is fine... Really.
1. Don't ask us what we're thinking about unless you are prepared to discuss such topics as baseball, the shotgun formation, or golf.
1. You have enough clothes.
1. You have too many shoes.
1. I am in shape. Round IS a shape!
1. Thank you for reading this.
Yes, I know, I have to sleep on the couch tonight; but did you know men really don't mind that? It's like camping.
