family camp 2009

after many years of deliberation, GMC family camp finally kick off on 8th may. Personally it was wonderful spiritual enlightening 2 1/2 days for me.

What makes Methodist so different from other deno? It was with the clear spirit-filled expositiion by our beloved President Dr Rev Su that i have come to understand many basic truths abt methodist and John Wesley. It was also thru Rev Su that I have finally decided to attend the Methodist convention in Sibu first week-end of June.

We 'camped' at the Borneo Tropical Rainforest Resort. Amazingly there were no mosquitoes at all.. we enjoyed the 'life' there. I did not regret going for the jungle trekking and thanks to our knowledgeable guide, i learnt a lot about the plants esp those that keep flies and mosquitoes away... Ask James Chai for the picture of the red-corn-like flower plant.. hehe

The trekking itself was uneventful except for a kiss-in-the-face by a no smoking sign.

We walked and climbed thru the treks; drank from a waterfall..(yuck..the water tasted sweet and thick..); educated on the flora, rode on a tractor-pulled train and breathing in dust; took a boat ride across a 70,000-patin infested pond.. and i DID IT all on my pair of black and red slippers. They have been faithful to me thru many retreats and camps.

MONEY $ MONEY --- S 11

love this song...

I work all night, I work all day, to pay the bills I have to pay
Aint it sad
And still there never seems to be a single penny left for me
Thats too bad
In my dreams I have a plan
If I got me a wealthy man
I wouldnt have to work at all, Id fool around and have a ball...

Money, money, money
Must be funny
In the rich mans world
Money, money, money
Always sunny
In the rich mans world
Aha-ahaaa
All the things I could do
If I had a little money
Its a rich mans world

A man like that is hard to find but I cant get him off my mind
Aint it sad
And if he happens to be free I bet he wouldnt fancy me
Thats too bad
So I must leave, Ill have to go
To las vegas or monaco
And win a fortune in a game, my life will never be the same...

Money, money, money
Must be funny
In the rich mans world
Money, money, money
Always sunny
In the rich mans world
Aha-ahaaa
All the things I could do
If I had a little money
Its a rich mans world

Money, money, money
Must be funny
In the rich mans world
Money, money, money
Always sunny
In the rich mans world
Aha-ahaaa
All the things I could do
If I had a little money
Its a rich mans world

Its a rich mans world

BEKENU MIRI

My dearest hubby ALWAYS drive to Bekenu for several reasons. The ride is smooth and usually takes 30-40 minutes . Traffic is light and the view : green and pleasant, taking away whatever stress you may have from work.

Bekenu is a small fishing town with a few rows of shophouses, a tamu and a fish market.

We always get our fish here.  Cheap and fresh (still gasping for air).  The vegetables and other produce from the tamu here are fresh and cheap too.

Most people will end their trip here.  They serve fresh prawn and fish delicacies.  The most famous is the drift-wood-looking fish.

Normally steamed with bits of ginger and the secret recipe of this Sing Chiong Restaurant, Bekenu.

And don't forget to drop by the Pantai Bungai.  If you are on your way to Bekenu , the junction will be on your right.  On your way home to Miri, the Bungai Beach will be on your left.  It is a beautiful place for a family or group picnic.

windchimes... O how i love them 风铃 by 蔡淳佳

I was glad when they said to me "come to the house of the Lorde"

I was glad when they said to me 'Come to the House of the Lord'. Sunday (28/3) was one of the many highlights of SS.. we had Sister Dorothy Tay and Uncle Button and his friend Pinky with us. We had a hilarious sunday service with the children. They were God-sent!!

Everything shared, trained, encouraged were as if they had been with us for long and knew the ministry's every need. Yes, we need to be role models as teachers and live up to the calling God has for each of us.

LIFE.... what's your purpose on this earth????? We went, we saw, we live....
Don't miss the next one... We'll see you there...

My sister inspires me..

So the saying goes ' out of sight, out of mind' but this ain't true with my sisters and I.. we live on this one ' seia sekata sehati sejiwa"; "borned of blood and flesh, water and spirit'

Almighty Father, watched over my sisters and keep them & their families safe. Bless them.

Went Star Buck-king with James, Moses, Aaron and Eli last night. Moses and James shared openly and without reservation about their challenges and experience in their lives. They too challenged Aaron and Eli on theirs.

Lives are changed, lives are being transformed. I can see it happening already. Praise the Lord.

better dont eat fish for now..

Dear all,

Please take note of the subject below. Please buy sea or pond fish for the time being and pass the word around to our family members. This has happened since 3 weeks ago.

Subject: Better don't eat fish for now

Hundreds of fish were dying in Baram River

Then Borneo Resources Institute Malaysia (Brimas) is shocked with another wave of mysterious death of fish in Sarawak. Over the last few days, hundreds of fish were found dying in Baram River, particularly around the Kuala Baram area.

Brimas officers have conducted field visits and investigations in the area and were surprised to see several species of freshwater fish dying in the river. The fish species that were found dying are locally known as Ikan Baung, Ikan Burih, Ikan Tapah, Ikan Padi to mention a few.

Also found dying were various types of prawns. Through our observation, most of the fish seemed weak, tired and having difficulty in breathing. As a result, the fish surfaced for air but after sometime suffocated to death. Also, the fish appeared blind.

Our officers have conducted site examinations on some of the dead fishes, particularly checking their gills. Brimas found that the gills of the fishes were not clogged with mud or blocked by silt. The stomach or intestines of the dead fish did not contain mud but seemed watery.

Regarding the condition of the Baram River, Brimas officers noticed that the water was murky. According to some local villagers at the Kuala Baram area, they have not seen any difference in the water as over the past years, the river has always being brownish, muddy and polluted with silt due to logging, oil palm plantations and industrial development activities.

Brimas has collected some water samples from Baram River for further investigation and necessary action.

Brimas is concerned with the safety of villages and members of longhouse communities along the Baram River. These people are exposed to danger and environmental disaster as they entirely depend on Baram River for their daily livelihood.

Brimas has seen these people scooping up the floating fish as well as collecting the dying fishes in Kuala Baram. It is alarming to note that these fish were sold at the local markets around Miri here. Innocent members of public could have bought and consumed these fishes and prawns unaware of the possible health risks.

Brimas is appalled with this reoccurrence of the large-scale dying of fish in Sarawak rivers. It seems that major rivers throughout the state are affected by this mysterious phenomenon. This seems like a wave of destructive incidents affecting all of our rivers.

These series of mysterious death of fishes had occurred twice in the Bakun dam project area in Belaga, then in Balleh and last week it was at the Mukah River.

With this new incident at Kuala Baram, based on our site investigations and observations, Brimas has identified the possible source and culprits that cause these incidents. However, Brimas would rather not pinpoint the culprits now but allow the relevant authorities to carry their investigations independently.

Brimas urges the Natural Resources and Environment Board (NREB) to conduct thorough investigations to find out the cause of the death of these fishes. Their reports must be made public as the nature of this mysterious phenomenon is of public interest and concern.

Brimas also supports the NREB in taking whatever action in enforcing the law against the culprits or responsible parties so that these incidents will not recur in the future.

The writer is programme officer, Brimas (Borneo Resources Institute) .

Poor Aaron

On Saturday 7th March, LBing AY AW and myself went to City Fan to finalise the plans for party quest for the Primary 5 & 6 Evangelism Retreat.

On our walk back to our vehicles, of all people I stepped on a section of a wasps' nest. It was kinda squishy...well anyways in just seconds i felt as though i was swarmped by flies... but ones until i was stung in my right foot. Victor and Benjamin saw the whole 'comical' scene eh...

"Run!! aV run!!!" and i ran.. and the bees rose into the air and buzzed and zoomed in right at us.. we split.. I ran to my pajero and LBing to his car. The 2 Aarons ran to the open space.

Everything happened in seconds.. the next thing i knew Aaron fell and hurt himself.

to cut the whole story short

Saturday night, I was having fever and kinda dizzy but i still went to the youth fellowship. AY with his injuries and AW is ok with his sting.

This is how AY's hand looked like by sunday night.

By monday he is in pain. The Doc cleaned his wounds and gave him ONE week sick leave.

I was just thinking (thinking).. thinking only la...
Our family pet mouse is too small for him to play with, should i get him a DeathAdder, Lachesis or a Mamba. A pair of Piranhas would be nice too and a Tarantula?? * smile to myself..

What do you think?

my personality test...

Following James' lead, i too took the personality test ... am was surprised at the results..lolz
Your view on yourself:

You are down-to-earth and people like you because you are so straightforward. You are an efficient problem solver because you will listen to both sides of an argument before making a decision that usually appeals to both parties.
The type of girlfriend/boyfriend you are looking for:

You are a true romantic. When you are in love, you will do anything and everything to keep your love true.
Your readiness to commit to a relationship:

You are ready to commit as soon as you meet the right person. And you believe you will pretty much know as soon as you might that person.
The seriousness of your love:

You are very serious about relationships and aren't interested in wasting time with people you don't really like. If you meet the right person, you will fall deeply and beautifully in love.
Your views on education

Education is very important in life. You want to study hard and learn as much as you can.
The right job for you:

You're a practical person and will choose a secure job with a steady income. Knowing what you like to do is important. Find a regular job doing just that and you'll be set for life.
How do you view success:

You are afraid of failure and scared to have a go at the career you would like to have in case you don't succeed. Don't give up when you haven't yet even started! Be courageous.
What are you most afraid of:

You are concerned about your image and the way others see you. This means that you try very hard to be accepted by other people. It's time for you to believe in who you are, not what you wear.
Who is your true self:

You are mature, reasonable, honest and give good advice. People ask for your comments on all sorts of different issues. Sometimes you might find yourself in a dilemma when trapped with a problem, which your heart rather than your head needs to solve.

THE REAL YOU

Here is the analysis:

  1. You are a very serious person. You tend to be quiet and well behaved, and you don't have a great deal of self-confidence. You prefer to be alone rather than with friends and that could make you a little less interesting to certain types of guys. You are very attractive in an individual kind of way, and this means it can take people a little while to get to like you.
  2. You don't really care about other people's feelings. You do things the way you want and usually think only about yourself. You are easy-going and love to have fun, but you can be irresponsible as well. You are not keen on serious discussions because they can make you remember that life isn't always about parties.
  3. You are a bright, cheerful and bubbly person. You are thoughtful and considerate, and like to have fun. Everybody feels comfortable around you because of your pleasant nature. When you walk into a room, people's eyes are likely to be drawn to you because of your charm.
  4. Your peers think of you as a fun person, but sometimes you can be a little irresponsible. You can be somewhat childish, and can try to ignore the fact that you will one day need to really grow up and be a mature adult! Perhaps you could start reading good books; they might help you look at the world in a different light. You do want to be taken seriously, right?
  5. Your boyfriend believes that you are a strong and independent person. Your confidence and cheerfulness make you an attractive person to be around, but sometimes you need to pay more attention to what other people, including your boyfriend, are thinking.
PERSONALITY LOVE STYLE

Here is the analysis:

You desire a love that will last forever. You are quite serious about finding this type of love, and that's why you think carefully about the men that you meet before deciding whether you could really love them. You don't just develop a crush on someone overnight: you look at a person's personality and other aspects of their life before deciding to form an attachment. If a guy doesn't meet your expectations, you would rather be alone. Your love has to be perfect. Be careful though, you could be missing out on some worthy relationships because your standards are so high.

BLA BLA BLA.... LOLZ...

erm... BTW YOU all know me quite well. oh well...

day(s) after valentine and birthday

15th Feb was the Sunday School Sunday.. just a day after valentine's day.. then afterall everyday should be valentine's day lor... because without the conviction of his faith in the Lord, St Valentinus would not be executed for his trying to convert the Emperor to the Christianity... so (IMHO) valentine is the Lord's.
well, anyways... the children were rather restless excited to do their song presentations.. while waiting for Pastor's sermon to end.. I had to resort to paper folding projects for the children to hold them down...

the 2 songs were presented to the delight of the congregation. The movie clip was well done too. It was a good morning.

17th Feb Tuesday
I was surprised by Aaron and Victor in their acts of generosity by rushing off to the nearest bakery to celebrate my birthday. The whole class clapped and sang me a birthday song. Very touching.... managed to captured it on my hp but blurry... the cake was cute..

Thanks IBS24AB esp Aaron and Victor for this wonderful surprise.

18th Feb
WOW!!!! ONE SURPRISE AFTER ANOTHER....

PSsssttt.... there are more (i was told) to be included in the above pic
but alas.. they cannot make it ...

They really took the trouble and time to come all the way from pujut..on a school day too..
I was so overwhelmed that I could not even finish giving thanks to the Lord for blessing me for all the 42 years of my life and surrounding me with so many many people who love me.

Thank you for remembering..
GABRIEL for your earliest 4:47 sms greetings

ALLISON , LEH KIONG, JOSEPH BRYAN, CHU JUN for your smses

& ZHI DEK for calling all the way from Australia 4:23pm

YOU HAVE MAKE THIS DAY 18 FEB 2009 THE MOST MEMORABLE DAY..
GOD BLESS ALL OF YA!!!

New

Praise the Lord He has blessed me and added a wonderful couple into my life. I had a really blessed time with them last night, chatting with them and the most wonderful part of it all is that all the children are around and talking together. I warmed my heart to see a family so close to each other, so relaxed and well... one would just filled absorbed into that warm and loving atmosphere.

*love the iced carlsberg and the pig's ear dish too... yummy...
* gonna love the ketaming session too
*looking forward to more fellowship
*wink

Lately this song moves me so much..

My Father, I adore You more
than anything my heart could wish for
I just want you
And Jesus, my beloved Saviour
Everything I am I owe to You
I owe it all to You

And angels come and adore You
And we Your children worship You

Chorus:
You are my world
You are my God
And I lay down my life for You
You are my Lord
The One I love
No one could ever take Your place

And everything I have
I give to You, my Lord, the One I live for
I live for You
And all my days are gifts from You
I pray I'd use them as You want me to
Use them for you

Repeat chorus
